Robert Keeley and his crew at Keeley Electronics have put out a number of interesting pedals this year, the most recent of which is the Dark Side:
The Dark Side is the latest release in Keeley’s Workstation Series. The Dark Side produces Phaser and U-Vibe effects as well as a Rotary speaker and Flanger sounds that are all vintage inspired but with modern interpretations and control. Add to that 12 Delay settings that are syncopated like the old multi-head tape delay units and a Big Fuzz Tone and you have a complete workstation for sounds from are spacey, ethereal, hi-fi, and progressive.
The inspiration for the pedal is obvious, and I think Keeley nailed it with this one. There really does seem to be some interesting Gilmour tones within the pedal with enough flexibility to take it beyond it’s Pink Floyd inspiration.
The only quibble I have with this and other pedals within Keeley’s Workstation series is how close the jacks are on the top of the pedal. I like to use pancake plugs on my cables, which are pretty much unusable with some of the pedals within the series.
Andy from Pro Guitar Shop has a nice overview of the pedal:
