As a .NET programmer, I frequently listen to the .NET Rocks podcast, which was founded by programmer/musician Carl Franklin. Not too long ago, I heard him talking about a new video production he was working on called Acoustic Addicts. They’ve released the first video, which compares four high-end guitars: a 1993 Taylor K20 (all Koa), a 2012 Taylor 714ce (Rosewood back/sides, Engelmann Spruce top), a 2011 Santa Cruz Roy Southerner (Mahogany back/sides, Sitka Spruce top), and a 2010 McPherson 4.5 (Beeswing Mahogany back/sides, Adirondack Spruce top). They perform spectrum analysis of the instruments so that you can visually see the differences in the tone woods.
