For the past few weeks, I haven’t felt much like playing guitar (or writing, for that matter). Every once in a while, this happens. I’m not really in a rut, I just lack the energy and inspiration to pick up the guitar and play.
Sometimes listening to some great guitarists will give me the inspiration and push I need to grab the guitar. Other times, watching a show will help inspire me. Sometimes, it just takes some time away from the guitar to make me want to grab it again.
Do this ever happen to you? What do you do to get past it?

I listen to Erotic Cakes by Guthrie Govan and all is well in the world again… either that or Stevie Ray.

Watching a episode of Classic Albums always gives me inspiration.

@Jon – Since you mention Erotic Cakes…I’d love to listen to Guthrie Govan, but Cornford isn’t making it easy. I’m not willing to pay $27 for it to be imported, and they don’t offer an MP3 version. Get with the new millennium, Cornford!
Stevie Ray is *always* a good choice, though.

I usually buy another guitar! (or at the very least, pick up a different one than usual). That usually gets me started!
Josh says
@UGM – Nothing wrong with that idea!
