Jimmie Vaughan has recently collaborated with Omar Kent Dykes to record a new CD titled On the Jimmy Reed Highway, which is a tribute to Jimmy Reed that will be released on August 21, 2007. The CD also features Kim Wilson, Lou Ann Barton, James Cotton, Delbert McClinton, and Gary Clark Jr.

As Omar guns the engine and peels rubber on the two-lane blacktop lined with no-good women, empty whiskey bottles, too many cigarette butts and bad intentions, he leaves John Law trailing behind eating his dust. I was at the Jimmy Reed Highway show at Antones in August 2007, great, killer show. The opening act was a young Australian lady who played a bad ass slide guitar and sang and had the whole crowd dancing. I cannot remember her name or find any mention of her while looking through Antone’s archives. Any idea of the name of this talented musician?
