Modern Guitars has recently posted an interview with guitarist Sue Foley. While the interview covers many topics, including Foley’s influences, background, touring, etc, the topic that intrigued me most is the fact that Foley is writing a book called Guitar Woman, based ostensibly on women guitarists, but covering more overarching topics such as “the psychology, philosophies, and stories of these women guitar heroines.”
I think that this is an interesting topic, as there are many women guitarists who have made a huge impact but rarely get much notice. Foley is interviewing many women guitarists for the book, and you can read quotes from the interviews on the Guitar Woman site. A few of the interviewees include Etta Baker, Jennifer Batten, Deborah Coleman, Susan Tedeschi, and many, many more from all different styles of music.
