In December of 2005, I wrote about the Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute guitar developed by the Fender Custom Shop. I was recently perusing the local Guitar Center store, and they have one of the Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute guitars for sale. I’ve never seen any of the Custom Shop tributes in person until now, and I’m extremely impressed. I’ve also never seen the original “Number One” in person, but looking at the tribute it definitely looks like they have done a masteful job of recreating the original. From the scratched off letters to the worn neck, the guitar looked like Stevie had just finished a set with it. At $45,000, it is the most expensive guitar I’ve ever seen in person, but it’s probably the most fascinating as well.
You can view more pictures of the SRV tribute guitar on Harmony Central’s website.
