In 2004, Gibson Guitars created a charity project called Nashville GuitarTown where renowned artists painted a 10-foot tall Les Paul or Chet Atkins-style guitar. The painted guitars were displayed throughout Nashville, so if you visited Nashville last year, you likely saw one. The guitars will be sold at an auction to be held on Feb. 23 in Nashville, TN. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the DISTRICT, and the United Way of Nashville.
A book has also been created to commemorate the project. The book is titled Nashville’s Guitar Art.
